New Year’s Resolution For Your Heating And Cooling Units

hvac-company-happy-new-year

Now that the holidays are over, we all must return to reality and take care of business. If you are like us, you enjoyed your break and maybe even put things off that you would typically take care of regularly. Since it is the beginning of the new year, let’s give you some ideas to help your heating and cooling units. Below are some HVAC New Year’s resolutions you can participate in.

  1. Replace your air filters every 60-90 days.
    • Consider replacing your air filters more frequently than this if you live in an area with filthy air. Being a Utah resident, you are more than familiar with the outside air quality during winter. Let’s all resolve to pay more attention to our furnaces and air conditioners and replace those filters frequently.
  1. Set up a maintenance agreement with a local HVAC company.
    • For a minimal fee, you can have a professional do a yearly safety inspection and tune-up on your unit. This is an outstanding idea because it keeps your warranty intact, prevents leaks, increases efficiency, and adds years to the lifespan of your heating and cooling units.
  1. Commit to performing monthly visual inspections.
    • Take 5-10 minutes monthly and review your air conditioner, furnace, swamp cooler, and heat pumps. You want to make sure that they are clean and free of debris. The industry standard is to have at least a 2-foot clearance around the unit to allow proper airflow and prevent overheating. Make sure to let your HVAC units be remembered; put a quick reminder on your calendar to remind you to do a quick visual inspection.
  1. Check your batteries.
    • The beginning of a new year is a great time to check and replace the batteries in your thermostat, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire detectors. Safety is vital to us, and we always recommend that our customers stay updated with their home or business monitors.

These are just some simple things you can do to better care of your heating and cooling system. As you perform these tasks, make sure that you keep a sharp eye out for cracks, leaks, weird noises, or any sign that your units have been compromised. Let’s take the new year as a great reason to turn the corner and care for our hvac systems.
