How can we Help?
When the heavy winter snowpack along the Wasatch Front begins to melt, your home’s foundation is put to the ultimate test. In cities like Sandy, Midvale, and West Jordan, our dense, alkaline clay soils do not absorb water quickly. Instead, rapid snowmelt and spring rainstorms cause water to pool directly against your foundation, leading to flooded basements, severe structural damage, and costly mold remediation.
At Plumbing Utah, we specialize in designing and installing custom French drain systems that permanently route destructive groundwater away from your property. Dispatching directly out of our Midvale headquarters, our licensed excavation and drainage experts provide free, no-obligation on-site estimates to help you protect your biggest investment.

We've had a small water leak in our front yard from our irrigation or the water main for some time that we were unable to diagnose and repair ourselves. I called Utah Leak Locate after reading many awesome reviews and Brandon, the owner, came out within the hour and immediately diagnosed the problem out front and a bigger problem we didn't even know we had with our water heater inside. The water heater was old and cracked due to a faulty pressure reducer valve. I really hadn't noticed the water on the floor since it's not an area we regularly enter. He offered a reasonable price for all the work so we opted to update to a tankless water heater and replace the water main rather than do a patch job. A crew from Plumbing Utah showed up the very next day and diligently worked on the repairs. Shane leads the excavation team and he was very professional keeping us informed as the day progressed. The water main took a little extra time due to the huge amount of rock in this area which required heavy equipment, but the workers were courteous and efficient and spent a lot of time replacing the sod and cleaning the yard up. Shane and the crew even power washed the driveway to remove all traces of the work they had been doing. We STRONGLY recommend this excellent company. They found the problem and completed a major repair on my sprinkling system promptly and professionally. I was so impressed with them that when I had another leak (this time in my water main) I immediately contacted them again. The peace of mind that I had knowing that they would take care of me is priceless. I will always use this company for any water/plumbing issues in the future because I know they will take care of me. I cannot say enough good things about them!! B Scott SatterfieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is a top quality group. They do top notch work and are fast. I have had them do two jobs for me in the last two months ... and can witness that their work is very high quality. The owner, Brandon, is a great follow through manager making sure everything is correctly done, and the customer is satisfied. I had a little issue with the price on one of the projects they did for me. Brandon got a hold of me and reviewed the problem and promptly made it right. I recommend them highly. If you have a plumbing need ... give them a call. They will be quick to respond, will do a great job and Brandon will make sure everything is done to the customer's satisfaction. They also guarantee their work. You just can't go wrong with this group.
Groundwater takes the path of least resistance. If you are noticing standing water in your yard, a damp basement, or soil eroding around your driveway, it is usually caused by a combination of factors:
A French drain acts as an underground gutter system for your yard. It is a highly effective, low-maintenance solution that does not rely on electricity or moving parts to keep your home dry.
We excavate a strategically sloped trench in the problem area, line it with commercial-grade landscaping fabric to prevent mud clogs, and install a perforated PVC pipe surrounded by washed drainage gravel. As groundwater rises, it flows effortlessly through the gravel, enters the pipe, and is safely gravity-fed away from your foundation toward a street gutter or designated drainage zone.
Do not wait for a flooded basement to take action. Secure your property with a permanent, professionally engineered drainage system.

Different properties require different drainage strategies. We evaluate your specific water intrusion issues and offer customized systems:
How long does a French drain last? When properly installed with a high-quality filter fabric envelope to prevent soil intrusion, a professionally built French drain can easily last 30 to 40 years without needing major maintenance or replacement.
Will a French drain fix my wet basement? Yes. If surface water or rising groundwater is the source of your basement leaks, an exterior or interior French drain is the most permanent way to relieve the hydrostatic pressure and keep the water from penetrating the concrete.
Do I need a sump pump with my French drain? It depends on the slope of your property. If your yard has enough natural decline to gravity-feed the water to the street, a sump pump is not necessary. If your property is flat or the drain is installed below the basement floor, the French drain will route the water into a sump basin, where a pump will actively pump it out of the home.
